DETERMINED is a Magnificent piece.
His outfit is carved with a stone first discovered on the Isle of Paul near the Canadian Labrador Peninsula.
The Dancing Bear Hunter is exquisitely detailed (Harpoon, rope, outfit).
Dale Ford is a Master of storytelling.
In a single view, Determined tells a story of dedication, determination and fortitude.
Labradorite is renowned for its mirage of colours and display of Labradorescence.
The stone can be found in the USA, Madagascar, Russian, Norway, Finland and the UK.
Each region's stone has varying degrees of luminescence.
The Labradorite is unique because the spectrum of colours is coming from light reflecting off a surface within the stone not from the surface.
It is one of the first stones introduced to the crystal world.
Known as "The Magician's Fuel" it is thought to be have an ability to awaken a person's true potential.
Without a doubt, Determined is the most stunning Dancing Bear we have had in the Gallery this year.
Perhaps, EVER!
The Polar bear Hunter holds his sharp harpoon in his left paw, ready to launch it at his prey at the exact time.
At the same time, he is balancing his entire weight on his right foot!
This position is a difficult engineering feat for a Carver.
The bear's paws and feet are large, his neck is elongated and his fantastic head and facial features are carved in a style that one would associate with a fantasy or storybook character..
It will be a long time before you come across a piece of art like Determined again.
